In 2011, after hearing about the use of music as torture via the Musicians' Union Zero Decibel campaign, working in partnership with Music Action International and the North West branch of Freedom from Torture we set up a music project with people who have been victims of torture. The project enables the participants to create songs and poetry based on their experiences, and has grown and changed enormously since then. Our first CD ‘Stone Flowers’ was launched at the Imperial War Museum North in September 2011. The project has continued with regular performances since then, including the London launch of our second CD, ‘Ngunda’ in June 2105, and an appearance at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in December 2015.

Stone Flowers now runs independently of Freedom From Torture.
